Lordex Lumbar Spine Program

The Lordex Lumbar Spine Program is a system developed to restore spinal stability and relieve pain associated with herniated disc, degenerative disc disease, facet syndrome, and radiating pain.

The Lordex non-surgical, non-invasice system for management of disabling low back pain incorporates two proprietary machines, the Lordex Decompression Unit, LDU, and the Lordex Lumbar Extension Machine, RX-1. The LDU is designed to unload the spine, achieving that affect through decompression. The unique and versatile design allows angle specific, variable positioning to focus on the specific lesion, disc or vertebrae, which is the source of the pain. The Lordex RX-1 is an ergonomically engineered lumbar extension machine designed to immobilize the lower body and effectively apply meaningful, therapeutic exercise to the lumbar msucles. This muscle specific, high intensity exercise machine introduces joint motion, neuromuscular reeducation, and an overload stimuli sufficient to accelerate strengthening and stabilization.

Pain results from a nerve or nerves being irritated. The four major objectives of the Lordex Program are:

               1. Relief
               2. Correction
               3. Strengthening
               4. Maintenance

Relief usually occurs within a week to ten days. The initial focus involves daily treatment (in acute pain patients) to decompress the nerve and alleviate the discomfort. As the intensity, frequency, and duration of pain subside, patients often assume the problem has been corrected. Correction actually occurs, not just in the absence of pain, but also in the reconditioning of a weakened msuculoskeletal system. Meaningful exercise must be appropraitely introduced to insure that decompression and stabilization is complete and healing has occurred. Maintenance requires the apllication of proper meaningful exercise to maintain the restoration and improvements.

The Lordex LDU/RX-1 combined treatment is physicial medicine. Unlike hot/cold packs and other thermo therapy directed to make the patient feel good, the Lordex program actually makes a physiological difference. By initiating actual changes at the muscle and vertebral level, this physical medicine has true impact on joint physiology. This creates positive changes, not just temporary relief.

Sessions generally require about 45 minutes. Each session includes time on the Lordex angular decompression unit, neuromuscular reeducation and RX-1 muscle specific, high intensity, and flexion/extension exercise. Treatment protocols involve approximately 20 to 25 hours of treatment on the LDU and RX-1. At minimum, we expect patients to be at least 30% to 50% improved by the tenth visit. Clinical results indicate 80%, or more, of persons suffering from the common cause of low back pain could be provided relief by proper application of the Lordex program and protocols.
